Busy busy, but I wanted to pop in and share the cute little bento box I got last night:

Bento6_14b
It’s all packed up and ready to go! I added another bowl for some mango slices. Want to see what’s inside? Of course you do!

Fresh rolls (wrapped in plastic so they don’t dry out, brown rice balls (there is an official Japanese name for these, but I forget what it is.), and tomatos and broccoli. I can’t wait for lunchtime :o)

I also got the wicker-like one on EBay:

Pretty, no?

UPDATE: Okay, my e-mail was actually working for about 5 minutes, my account was all straightened out, but now the service itself is down for everyone. So, I have a gmail account that I’ll be using in the meantime, and I might just keep permanently. If you would like to send me and e-mail, use this address: heylucyloo(at)gmail(dot)com. I think I will change the link in the sidebar too, for now.

  1. That looks so delicious. That reminds me that last week we tried these spring roll wrappers that I saw at CostPlus. I just followed the recipe on the back and packed them with lettuce, carrots, cilantro, and shrimp and they were delicious. I think they are considered Vietnamese, but I think something like that would look lovely in the bento. Happy eating!

  2. That’s pretty much what I put inside these too! I’ve had them in Thai restaurants and Vietnemese, so I’m not sure what the official origin is. I have all sorts of international plans for the bento, not just Japanese or even Asian. A Mexican bento would be delicious, don’t you think? and Greek and Italian and, well just about anything.

  3. I just found your blog – it’s so cute! you’re very creative.
And the japanese rice balls are called ‘onigiri’. I make them all the time for my bento – they’re very good with umeboshi in them ^-^

say something nice...
