birthday week, day two

As promised, it's time for the next birthday present here at Hey Lucy! Remember my blue scarf? Made with my new favorite fabric? Here's a little refresher:
Shotcottonscarf1
 Shotcottonscarf2

It turns out that I have enough fabric left for another scarf, so that is today's giveaway gift. Apparently the top five albums thing was really hard, so this one will be a little easier. Since we just about all love fabric around here, tell me what fabric you are loving at the moment, with a link to it, if you can find one. Even if you're not a sew-er, you can probably find an article of clothing that you love because of the fabric. So share! I'm always up for finding pretty new prints and patterns.

Oh, and today is the actual birthday day, and I think I might have overdone it with the celebratory eating. We had some delicious Thai food tonight, but even my spicy-loving self had a little trouble with the spice levels. I think I can finally feel my gums again. When they give you a range of 1-5, don't you think spicy level 3 should be medium and not burn-a-layer-of-skin-off-the-roof-of-your-mouth?

Also, because I am the birthday girl, I get to make up giveaway rules as we go along. Here's what I've got so far: 1. You can win more than one gift, so enter every day. 2. You can win if you are family or a real-life friend, but I truly am going to draw random winners, so your chances are not increased just because I know you. 3. I think those are the only rules so far, but I reserve the right to change them at any time.

  1. Happy Happy Day! Hope it was great. 🙂
I’ve been loving Minkee (sp?) lately. so soft and cozy. perfect for baby blankets. I just sewed one for a baby shower last week. I took a picture and posted it here: http://haystackoflight.blogspot.com/2009/03/its-march-30.html

  2. Happy Birthday! Love that scarf, I admired it when you blogged about it before, and it would totally suit me as I think we are the same colouring. Anyhoo at the moment I have a crush on Shannon Lamden’s fabrics. I cant decide between cranes http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12266440 , or deers http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12266252.
    Thanks

  3. Happy Birthday! Thai can be tricky. I always choose spce level 1. The last time I chose level three I was 18 and my boyfriend and I were both sick for two days afterward!
I’m LOVING on the beautiful IKEA fabrics! http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/Textiles/10655/

  4. Sorry but what’s the giveaway again? I need to go and reread to discover, but I would like to be entered.

  5. Happy Birthday, again!
You already know all about this fabric but it’s what I’m drooling over right now.
The entire “Good Folks” line by Anna Maria Horner : http://www.flickr.com/photos/annamariahorner/3196767943/in/photostream/
I really really need an entire bolt of each fabric.

  6. Happy Birthday! Two of my best friends, my sister, and my husband all have birthdays this week. And like 50 other people I know have birthdays either in March or April. I wonder what that’s all about?
My favorite favorite favorite fabric of all time came from some fat quarters I bought at JoAnn’s last year. For the life of me, I cannot find them anywhere else- so if anyone at all knows where to get this fabric, PLEASE tell me! Here is a link to a photo on flickr:

It’s part of a quilt, here.

  7. Oh! oh! Happy birthday!!!!!!

  8. Happy Happy Birthday!
I love Shannon Lamden’s fabrics as well — someone else beat me to the punch! — but I can at least direct you to some different favorites of hers: papercuts in sunshine http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22444430 and nesting apple on white linen http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11225210

  9. Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear yoooooou! Happy birthday to you!!!
I have to admit that I’m still working on the 5 albums. It’s harder than I thought it would be. 🙂 But I can def. tell you about some favorite fabrics.
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20533237 (This one because it reminds me of childhood and fairy stories and growing up on an island)
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22696790 (This one because I consider myself primarily a knitter/crocheter and hello, awesome!! I have a panel in green that is really fab.)

  10. Happy Birthday!!
Last year (or maybe the year before) I found some fabric online that was called Bedtime Stories. It was very vintage and lovely. I loved it. Why didn’t I buy it then??
Now whenever I look up anything called Bedtime Stories I get something pink and pastel and sort of care-bears-y. 🙁
Right now I am using Kona solids in a sort of off-white (but not cream), red, and orange to make my daughter a wedding quilt in the pattern called Rising Sun. Very tricky swirly pieces that go into circles!! Very antique…
Love Thai food, can’t take ANY spice 🙂

  11. I have plans to make some fabric yo-yos and embellish a cardigan with them, so I’ve been snapping up bits of vintage feedsack fabrics on eBay.

  12. We had two family birthdays last week – turned 3 & 5. Let me just day, I’m glad you’re not giving away strawberry ice cream or chocolate cake. I’ve eaten enough of that until this time next year!
My fave fabric is always a thrift find. I have a hard time buying new fabric not just bec. of cost, but bec. of what goes into making it when there’s so much great recycled stuff out there waiting to be converted into something new!
    PS: Love the scarf! ~H

  13. Happy Birthday belated. I didn’t have internet for seven days. It was killer.
I really like this fabric. http://www.pinkchalkfabrics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_47_68&products_id=1065&zenid=ab9973235cc61888f08f4ac3e6df38d8
It’s out of stock. But if it ever comes back, I need several yards.

  14. Happy Birthday 🙂
I am completely in love with the new Wonderland by Momo line from Moda

The pistachio is my favorite colorway. So fun and bold!
